Standard

The Cavalier's standard that breeders adhere to is one authorised by The Kennel Club, keeping in mind that the perfect dog may not exist. All any breeder can aim for is a dog that exemplifies as many of the characteristics as possible.

The Cavaliers required weight is between 12 – 18 lbs. This can be variable due to bone structure. The skull should be almost flat between the ears with the nose length from the stop (between the eyes) to the tip being 1 1/2 - 2 inches at maximum. The nostrils black with no flesh marks. Lips should be full with the face well filled below the eyes. The eyes should be spaced well apart and dark. A cavalier’s ears are set high with plenty of feathering. The jaw is strong with a scissor bite (upper teeth closely overlapping the lower teeth).
